Established in 1968 by the Government of India with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Chennai, Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), formerly known as the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), aimed to address the shortage of skilled manpower in the field of Plastics Engineering & Technology. Today, CIPET stands as a premier academic institution for higher and technical education, operating under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. 

CIPET-IPT Jaipur, established in August 2020, was founded to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the petrochemicals and plastics sectors. The institute is affiliated with Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota, and offers AICTE-approved undergraduate engineering programs in Petrochemical Engineering, Plastic Technology, and Mechanical Engineering

The CIPET: IPT Centre in the state of Jaipur was  established in 2006 under the XIth Five Year Plan by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Rajasthan. The centre is spread over 17.30 acres in the Sitapura Industrial Area of Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, and is equipped with all necessary infrastructural facilities

CIPET: IPT-Jaipur is dedicated to multiple domains of Plastics and Petrochemicals, including Design, CAD/CAM/CAE, Tooling & Mould Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Testing, and Quality Assurance, along with strong focus on Academics, Skilling, and Research.
